Claudio Ranieri to leave Nantes after just a season in charge

Former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri will leave his role as Nantes manager this summer after a breakdown in relationship with the club’s president Waldemar Kita.

Ranieri, 66, joined the French side in June of last year but will depart after just one campaign in charge after guiding them to 10th position in the Ligue 1 table.

“The club and the coach have decided to part company by mutual agreement. We thank Claudio Ranieri and his staff for all the work done this season,” club president Waldemar Kita said in a statement.

The former Chelsea manager, who was linked to the vacant Italy post before Roberto Mancini was named Gian Piero Ventura’s new long-term successor on Monday, would be relieved of his duties after their final match of the season against  Strasbourg this weekend.
