Former Barcelona right-back Dani Alves believes Real Madrid are more dangerous now that Cristiano Ronaldo has departed for Juventus.

Alves, who won’t feature for Paris Saint-Germain in their season’s Champions League opener against Liverpool, certainly understands the reason why Cristiano Ronaldo decided to accept a new challenge.

Speaking to Marca, “It’s not going to be so easy against Madrid.”

“I think that, contrary to what everybody else says, Madrid are more of a team without Cristiano, and now it’s a little more difficult than it was before – at least because of how I see football and my concept of this game.

“Though it’s obvious that him leaving is a brutal loss, Madrid are Madrid.”

He also believes that the time is now right for PSG to make the necessary leap to become Champions League winners.

“To achieve the goal that this club wants is not so complicated,” he continued.

“But you need different things, to do different things, a different spirit, have a different mentality.

“This year I have a good feeling, things are improving here and they are doing well, there are things that are changing and people are understanding a bit of what this game is about.”

The right-back says he understands why Ronaldo decided to move to Juventus.

“I don’t miss anything in football,” he noted.

“People want challenges, to continue feeling alive and for that reason it doesn’t surprise me.

“He had been there for a while, he had done great things with Real Madrid and he has decided to try other things.

“I did when I was at Barcelona and the true fighters need new challenges and don’t need comfort.

“I think that, like me at Barcelona, he was very comfortable and, maybe, we need something different to stimulate us again.”
