Rafa Benitez insists he wants to renew his Newcastle contract
Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has ruled out a return to Napoli insisting he is willing to renew his contract with Newcastle.
Benitez, who kept the Toon in the top flight, has been linked with a return to the Serie A club where he won the Supercoppa in 2014.
And the Newcastle manager told Italian website Calcio Napoli 24 : “My future? I’ve heard so many rumours, but I haven’t spoken to De Laurentiis: I have a contract with Newcastle, I’m talking to them about my renewal.
“They made me some offers to stay here for a few more years, plus I have to manage my family: if I decided to go to Newcastle and stay there, even in the Championship, it’s also because of my family.
“My priority is to stay in England. I’m only talking to Newcastle right now.”
Benitez added: “At the start, it is not easy for anyone but a proper coach can also succeed here.
“There is more respect for the work of a coach. In Spain and Italy people talk a lot. When I arrived at Liverpool, they gave me three years to win something.
“It was not compulsory to win but if you managed the squad well you can win a trophy. In Italy and Spain, it is not possible. You have to win in the first year – if not already in the first week!”
