Pep Guardiola signs two-year Manchester City extension

Manchester City have announced that manager Pep Guardiola has signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until 2021.

Guardiola, 47, led City to the Premier League title with a record 100 points, scoring 106 goals in the process. 

The club said in a statement tonight: “Manchester City Football Club are delighted to announce that manager Pep Guardiola has signed a contract extension keeping him at the Club until 2021..

“Having lifted both the Premier League trophy and Carabao Cup in his second season with the Club, Guardiola will now look to continue his success over the coming three campaigns on both the domestic and European stages.”

Guardiola’s initial contract was only for three years but he has hinted in the past that he would want to stay at City for longer. 

“I am so happy and excited. It’s a pleasure to be able to work here,” he said.
