Napoli part company with Maurizio Sarri

Napoli have parted company with coach Maurizio Sarri with Carlo Ancelotti reportedly set to replace him.

Sarri, who moved to the Stadio San Paolo from Empoli in the summer of 2015, has been strongly linked with a move to England to succeed Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.

The 59-year-old guided Napoli to a second-placed finish in Serie A this season, earning admirers for his attractive, attacking style of play along the way.

In a tweet from president Aurelio De Laurentiis, Sarri was thanked for his time at the club, effectively putting an end to his time in Naples.

De Laurentiis wrote: “I thank Maurizio Sarri for his precious dedication to Calcio Napoli that allowed us to give the city and all Azzurri fans over the world prestige and emotions, creating a style of football admired everywhere and by everyone. Bravo Maurizio.”

The Blues, however, face competition over the 59-year-old Italian, who has also caught the eye of Zenit St Petersburg, who were willing to match the manager’s release clause in order to lure him to Russia.
