Jose Mourinho confirms Eric Bailly ruled out for two to three months
Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has has been ruled out for “two to three months,” says manager Jose Mourinho.
Bailly,23, last played in the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on November 5.
Mourinho told MUTV: “He goes to surgery, the decision is made. I don’t say [he’s out] for the rest of the season but it’s for the next two or three months.”
“But now we have [Phil] Jones back and we have [Chris] Smalling, even [Daley] Blind, so it’s a position we have good cover in but of course we’ll miss the player.”
The Red Devils face West Brom this weekend at the Hawthorns with a potential 14-point deficit if City can defeat Tottenham on Saturday.
Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo will need to step up their form without Bailly over the coming months, though Mourinho could yet dip into the transfer market as cover.
