Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has questioned Neymar’s decision to dump Barcelona and join PSG.
Cantona, who played in France with Auxerre, Marseille and Nimes, insists he doesn’t understand why Neymar decided to leave Barcelona this summer to move to PSG.
Neymar, 25, stunned the footballing world when he joined Ligue 1 leaders in a world-record move worth €222 million over the summer from Barcelona.
The former Santos player has faced criticism that he only moved there because of money.
Cantona has leant his voice to the discussion, saying that it doesn’t fit in with ‘his vision’ of football.
“When you are 25-years-old and play for Brazil and Barcelona you wonder a little why he has come to France, to play against Guingamp or Amiens,” Cantona told Yahoo Sport.
“The Champions League? It’s maximum 10 matches in the season. I do not understand why he came to play in France. It’s not my vision of passion and football.”
The 25-year-old, who has been in excellent form since moving to the Ligue 1 side scoring 11 goals in 12 appearances, is set to return to action against Nantes at the Parc des Princes on Saturday after missing PSG’s last match against Angers.
