Ederson signs new seven-year Manchester City deal

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has extended his contract with the club until 2025.

Ederson, 24, has enjoyed an outstanding first season in English football since arriving from Benfica for £34.9million in June.

He has featured in all but two of the champions’ Premier League games this season, keeping 16 clean sheets and contributing to 30 victories.

And he has been rewarded with the longest  contract City have ever given out — which replaces his original two-year deal — and keeps him with the champions until the summer of 2025.

Only Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea (18) has kept more Premier League clean sheets this season than Ederson.

Ederson said: “I’m delighted. This means the club is happy with my work, they trust me.

“I want to win everything we can! But it is my dream to win the Champions League in Manchester City’s shirt.”

City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain said: “Ederson has shown in his first season at the club that he has all the attributes needed to become one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

“He has outstanding quality and his ability with the ball sets him apart from his competitors.

“We are really looking forward to seeing him develop at City over the coming years.”

Ederson was part of the Benfica side that won the Portuguese league and cup double before he moved to Manchester City.
