Arsenal sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Dortmund for club record fee

Arsenal have completed the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund for club record fee of £56m.

Aubameyang becomes Arsenal’s second major signing of the January transfer window after Mkhitaryan joined from Manchester United in a swap deal for Alexis Sanchez.

The 28-year-year-old scored 141 goals in 213 games for Dortmund since 2013, including 21 in 24 matches this season.

He was suspended by Dortmund for their match against Wolfsburg on 14 January for missing a team meeting.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said upon announcing the deal: “Apart from the unpleasant happenings of the last few weeks we like to remember that the story of Aubameyang at BVB was a success story for more than four years.

“He’s done great things for the club and scored a lot of important goals. He was part of the cup winning team in 2017. We wish him all the best.”

He will become part of a formidable front four together with Mkhitaryan, Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette — although it remains to be seen how Wenger manages to fit all that attacking talent into the same line-up.
