Former Real Madrid player Arjen Robben has announced his retirement from international football following his country failure to qualify for the Russia 2018 World Cup.
Robben, who played 96 times for his country, scoring 37 goals and assisted 29 times over 14 years, scored both goals for the Netherlands as they defeated Sweden 2-0 in the final matchday of UEFA World Cup qualification.
“I want to focus on my club now. It’s a good time to pass the torch to the next generation.” said Robben.
